The Weekend is Quickly Approaching!
May 30, 2008
The weather has been absolutely beautiful these past couple of days. I managed to get in a fairly decent bike ride last night. Hip hip hooray! Was out for about 30 minutes riding all around Union Sq. Felt really good.
Had pasta for dinner and sauce with ground turkey. Very tasty.
Had raspberry yogurt and an iced coffee this morning. Minestrone soup for lunch and an orange.
Hoping to get in another bike ride tonight seeing as it might be rough this weekend. We’re supposed to be getting storms.
Anyway, feeling better today than yesterday. So that’s something!

So I’ve just now gotten around to reading your blog. This is great! As you and I have talked in the past, I can relate to this. The thing that has worked well for me over the years that I have kept the majority of my weight loss off is portion control. The trick is to use the smaller fork and plate, take half of your portion initially so you can have a “second” helping without it actually doubling your intake. In the past year I’ve really focused on taking in at least two pieces of fruit and have vegetables with all lunches and dinners (well the occasional slip happens). Most people close to me know I tend to get hungry every three hours. The key is to have things washed, cut, and ready to go – such as strawberries or grapes in the fridge in a bowl to snack on. Honey wheat pretzels are great (no I don’t subscribe to a no-carb or even low-carb lifestyle) as are 100 calorie chips ahoy or oreos. They cost more per serving and may have some preservatives or chemicals but I concede they are better than diving into the abyss of a non-portion controlled box of cookies.
Anyway, I realize that this is something that you have to want for yourself but I am sure that everyone that you have invited to visit your site is pulling for you. I have confidence in you and know you can succeed at this. I’ll be checking this out to keep up with you and who knows…..maybe I’ll join you for some truly “healthy” competition!!
Love and Support,
Your sister
